Press Release - Director of Student Support Services
Cheney Public Schools is pleased to announce Mr. Franklin Day has been selected as the Director of Student Support Services. Franklin earned his Bachelor’s degree at Eastern Washington University in Psychology; his Education Specialist degree from University of Nevada Las Vegas; and his Administrative Certificate from Washington State University.
Mr. Day has been serving the students of Spokane Public Schools since 2013, currently as an Associate Director of Special Education. Prior to his employment with Spokane Public Schools, he served in the Mead School District for nine years starting as a school psychologist and exiting as the co-director of special services.
Mr. Day’s letters of recommendation provided great insight into his dedication to students and staff. One letter stated Franklin “has a thorough knowledge base of special education policy and law and he continually works to keep up to date with changes” and “I have found him to be caring, thoughtful, and positive in his communication and support.” A second letter stated “His knowledge, skillful application and awareness of systems is unparalleled.”
With his passion and dedication for students, his interest in special education law, and his expertise around compliance and professional development, Franklin will be an excellent addition to Student Support Services.
Mr. Day will begin his position with Cheney Public Schools in August, 2019.
