ART INSTALLATION AT CHENEY MIDDLE SCHOOL

On Friday, May 26th, CMS hosted Susan Zoccola, the artist who created "Palouse," our art installation in the Commons. Susan was chosen by a panel of CMS and Cheney Public Schools staff members during the building of the new CMS. The panel was provided work samples from approximately 50 artists by the WA State Arts Commission and, upon thorough review, made the choice to commission Ms. Zoccola to create the work. Principal Stark stated, "probably what drew us to her work most was her use of metals in her art." Other committee members spoke of her large body of work within public art around the state and beyond. A selected group of CMS art and leadership students spent an hour with Ms. Zoccola hearing about her vision, the design process, and asking questions relating to her work.
