Cheney FFA Chapter at Salnave Elementary School

On February, 21st, members of the Cheney FFA Chapter took a trip to Salnave Elementary School where they taught 4th and 5th graders about the dairy industry. The lessons were chosen to be planned by Heather Mclagan, to students, Riley Brown, Daniel Ross, Kaitlin Venarucci, Andrew Rushing and Ryan Reimer-Golden. They  traveled from Cheney High School to Salnave Elementary School to teach these 4th and 5th graders about parts of the dairy industry. The leaders of these lessons started out with a quick introduction of FFA and some fun Dairy Trivia. The Stations that were planned out were Dairy Products, Coloring Sheets, Types of Milk, (which consisted of Skim, Whole, Whipping cream, and Raw Milk), Milking and Utter Capacity. After the lessons we did a quick Q/A where the kids got the chance to explore even more about the industry. Every single kid loved doing these stations and look forward to learning new things about cows. We will be returning on March 7th to do a follow up lesson! The 3rd graders will also participate in the lesson on March 7th. We all loved working with these kids and look forward to doing it again.
