Superintendent Preliminary Interviews

Cheney Public Schools families and community members,

Following application screening by the Board of Directors, four candidates have been selected to move forward to the preliminary round of superintendent interviews on Thursday, April 14 and Friday, April 15 starting at 5:30 p.m. each day (two preliminary interviews per evening). The four candidates are John Goldhardt (Superintendent of the Manchester School District, NH), Sean Dotson (Superintendent of the Tumwater School District, WA), Ben Ferney (Superintendent of the Valley School District, WA), and Don Vanderholm (Superintendent of Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools, WA).  Preliminary interviews will be held in the CHS auditorium during an open meeting where staff, students, and community members may attend. The preliminary interview process will also be accessible via Zoom webinar for those interested in attending virtually. Webinar information can be found on the district website calendar at www.cheneysd.org.

Following the preliminary interview process on April 15, the Board of Directors will meet in an executive session and determine which candidates will move forward as finalists.  Tentatively, finalist interviews are scheduled for April 19-21 (Tuesday – Thursday) and will include a full day interview process for each individual candidate.  You will have the opportunity to participate during open community forums each day from 5:15 – 6:00 p.m. in the CHS auditorium.  Forum attendees will have the opportunity to write questions on cards that will be shared with the forum moderator and provide written feedback for consideration.

We encourage and welcome your participation in the upcoming superintendent interview process.
