MCCLURE TO RETIRE; BROWN TO SERVE AS DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS

Mr. Jeff McClure will retire as the Director of Maintenance and Operations for Cheney Public Schools at the end of April. His tenure in the district has taken him from a bus driver when he began at the district in 1984 to a custodian, and later a plumber. In 2005 Mr. McClure became the director of Maintenance and Operations and has served in that role for over 15 years. He oversaw many capital projects throughout his career, including the building of two new middle schools in 2012, construction of Snowdon Elementary in 2013, the expansion of Cheney HS in 2019-2020, and many other significant remodeling projects throughout the district. His work over the years has directly and indirectly impacted so many staff and students for the better; we are grateful for his service.

With the retirement of Mr. McClure, we are excited to announce Mr. Rich Brown will begin May 1, 2022 as the new Director of Maintenance and Operations. Mr. Brown has served as assistant director since 2008, and prior to that he served in the district as an HVAC Technician since 1991. We are excited to have him step into this role. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Brown as he begins as the new Director of Maintenance and Operations and thanking Mr. McClure for his many years of service.
