This Online training is completely self-directed. The course work is the same you would receive in person. A username and password will be sent to you via email in August. You must complete this training prior to your in-person Day 2 of training. It should take approximately 3 ½ hours to complete the training. Verification of course completions will be sent to your trainer. If you are a certificated staff member you will receive a $50 stipend. If you are a classified staff member you will receive up to 3 ½ hours of reimbursement at your hourly rate. You may complete the course at your home or the computer lab at Cheney Middle School will be available from 8-4 pm on August 10th and August 14th if you would like to use school district computers. During this portion of the training you will learn the Relational competencies of this training. Please remember that certification requires both Day 1 and Day 2 portions.
Using a graded and gradual system of alternatives, The Mandt System® builds competencies among educational staff to prevent, de-escalate, and when necessary, intervene in order to maintain safety for all students/people. The Relational Competencies you will learn include:
• Building Healthy Relationships — Foundational Beliefs, Working as a Team, Dealing with Emotions, Causes of Stress, and Crisis Cycle.
• Building Healthy Communication — Nonverbal Elements in Communication, Vocal Elements in Communication, Verbal Elements in Communication: Strategies for De-escalation.
• Building Healthy Conflict Resolution — Communicating through Problem Solving, Problem Solving Techniques.
