Teacher Substitutes

Paraeducator Substitutes

Paraeducator substitute wage range: $17.25-$18.35/hour, depending on position.

Nutrition Services Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute kitchen assistants. Food Handler's Permit required. Must be 18 years old and pass a background check.
Wage range: $17.50-$20.50/hour, depending on position.

Custodial Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute custodians. Must be 21 years old, pass a background check, and have own transportation. Shifts vary: 5:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.; 3:00-11:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Training provided.
Wage: $20.05/hour.

Bus Driver, Non-CDL Driver & Bus Supervision Aide Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute school bus drivers and school bus supervision aides. Must be 22 years old to drive bus and 18 years old to be a bus aide and must pass a background check. Training provided.
Bus Driver wage: $22.00/hour; Non-CDL Driver wage: $18.00; Bus Aide wage: $16.75/hour.

Paraeducator Requirements:
If you are interested in applying to be a Paraeducator in Cheney Public Schools, the following requirements apply to ALL instructional paraeducator positions (also applies to paraeducator substitutes):
- All instructional paraeducators must have scored:
- 455 or higher on the ETS ParaPro assessment; or
- 220 or higher on the Pearson Paraprofessional assessment; or
- 65% on The Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program; or
- have obtained an AA degree or higher; or
- have earned 72 quarters/48 semester credits; or
- have completed a registered apprenticeship program prior to applying for a paraeducator position with Cheney Public Schools.
- (documentation required at time of application).
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (documentation required prior to beginning employment).
If you do not meet the first requirement above via a college degree or credits and have not yet taken the ETS Paraeducator Assessment, please contact NorthEast Washington Educational Service District 101 at (509) 789-3800 to schedule ethe paraeducator test.
