During the COVID-19 school closure Cheney Public Schools will be suspending payment for tuition based preschool for March and April 2020. Once preschool resumes the District will consider payment options. Dear Preschool Families,

With the governor's announcement that school will remain closed for the rest of the school year we are working to identify families who have prepaid preschool tuition for March, April, May, and June.  Our business office will be working over the next several weeks to refund all families who have prepaid.  Due to the at homework status of many of our office staff, we appreciate your patience as we process through reimbursements.  If you have specific questions regarding preschool tuition we recommend you contact your building office via phone or e-mail.

Dear Preschool Families,
After multiple conversations with local and state officials regarding health and safety protocols that will be implemented when students return to school, the Cheney School District has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend tuition-based preschool services for the 2020-2021 school year. One of the major factors that lead to this decision was the physical space within the preschool classrooms and the building as a whole; to safely serve students, classroom populations had to be reduced. Additionally, with the school district decision, based on guidance from the Regional Health District, to start the school year in a distance learning model preschool services and programs will look significantly different than ever before.

The Cheney School District will continue to offer preschool services, in a distance learning model, to students who are eligible for special education services or the Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) in alignment with state and federal requirements. The Cheney School District is committed to serving our youngest learners and will make every effort to resume tuition-based preschool once it is safe to do so. If you are interested in learning more about ECEAP or to see if your family may meet the eligibility requirements, information can be found under the Student Services section on the district website.
