Summary of Survey Findings
Students
281 students participated in the survey and 47 indicated they would like to participate in the interview process.
For students the top priority of a new principal should be improving learning experiences for students, and the most important quality in a principal is that they are easy to talk to and approachable.
The students also identified opportunities, as well as providing other areas of common feedback
Biggest Opportunity:
- Making things better for students and teachers
- Creating a safer and kinder culture
Other Feedback/Considerations:
- Dedicate time to CHS, build up school pride and improve the overall experience for students (class time, activities, school culture)
Staff
Staff were asked to identify important areas of experience, key themes, qualities, and opportunities for the new principal.
Three most important experiences (in ranked order):
- Large school experience
- HS principal experience
- Equity Centered, culturally competent leadership
Most important quality in next principal:
- Collaborative decision making (was only 1% more than the #2 community building)
Biggest opportunities:
- Start fresh, post-COVID with clear expectations for students and staff
- Great teachers and potential to take school to next level: academics, athletics, activities
- Opportunity to shape a positive and healthy staff and student culture, including healing and trust building
