Teacher & Paraeducator Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute teachers and paraeducators. Monday-Friday. Must be 18 years old and pass a background check.
Fully-certified substitute teacher salary: $150/day;
Emergency certified substitute teacher salary: $135/day;
Paraeducator substitute salary range: $16.00-$17.30/hour, depending on position.

Custodial Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute custodians. Must be 21 years old, pass a background check, and have own transportation. Shifts vary: 2:00-11:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Training provided.
Salary: $19.32/hour.

Nutrition Services Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute kitchen assistants. Food Handler's Permit required. Must be 18 years old and pass a background check. 
Salary range: $16.77-18.31/hour, depending on position.

Bus Driver & Bus Supervision Aide Substitutes
Accepting applications for on-call/substitute school bus drivers and school bus supervision aides. Must be 22 years old to drive bus and 18 years old to be a bus aide and must pass a background check. Training provided.
Bus Driver salary: $20.36/hour; Bus Aide salary: $16.00/hour.

If you are interested in applying to be a Paraeducator in Cheney Public Schools (also applies to elementary paraeducator substitutes at Betz, Salnave, Snowdon, and Sunset), the following requirements apply to ALL instructional paraeducator positions:
  1. All instructional paraeducators must have scored 461 or higher on the ETS Paraeducator Assessment, OR have obtained an AA degree or higher, OR have earned 72 quarter/48 semester credits, or have completed a registered apprenticeship program prior to applying for a paraeducator position with Cheney Public Schools (documentation required at time of application).
  2. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (documentation required prior to beginning employment).
If you do not meet requirement #1 above via a college degree or credits and have not yet taken the ETS Paraeducator Assessment, please contact NorthEast Washington Educational Service District 101 at (509) 789-3800 to schedule the paraeducator test.
