Westwood Middle School Career Day

Westwood staff, organized by school counselors Ms. Phillips and Mrs. Hyde, offered the first career day ever on Friday, February 8.  Approximately 30 parents and community members spoke to sixth, seventh and eighth grade students as part of the activities associated with the Honor Roll assembly.  Students, staff and community members felt it was a valuable experience for all involved.  The main goal was to begin to educate students about opportunities beyond high school.  Volunteer speakers represented both trades and professional occupations.  The district photographer, a police officer, an anesthetist, a lineman, a dental hygienist, a pilot, an engineer, a hostage negotiator, a nurse practitioner, an electrician and a pastor, just to name a few. What a wonderful show of Wolverine pride in the community. Thanks to all who made this event possible. Parents, please contact Mrs. Phillips at 559-4157 or [email protected] if you would like to be included in the next WMS Career Expo.
