Mr. Nels Radtke, Teacher of the Year

Sunset Elementary School teacher Nels Radtke received the Teacher of the Year award on October 26, 2018 at the West Plains Chamber Best of the West Gala. Principal Ty McGregor wrote the following nomination:

"I have been in education for over sixteen years and I can honestly say, I have not seen an educator spend so much time creating programs that motivate, engage, and inspire students like Mr. Radtke has done for our students here at Sunset. Every activity or lesson he creates is an exciting, fun-filled learning experience for our students. Whether it’s his Ninja course or live action frogger game, Mr. Radtke is meticulous in his preparation to provide students a PE experience that builds upon their skills while being incredibly enjoyable for them. Overwhelmingly when asked, our students at Sunset say PE is their favorite subject. Mr. Radtke volunteers his time to organize and plan our Field Day at Sunset, which is the end of the year highlight for our entire school. He also organizes celebrations like dances for our students in the gym. He also does a masterful job of implementing technology into his classroom. With music, videos, and activities created by video projections, our kids get a wide range of learning experiences. Mr. Radtke also runs a before school fitness club for kids in the spring. He intentionally targets students who are having difficulties at school, with this program he works to motivate and inspire them. It is my honor to nominate Mr. Radtke for, “Educator of the Year”."

Congratulations, Mr. Radtke!
