Along with the New Year comes a new season of Unified Basketball! This is a sport that combines Special Olympics athletes with “partners”, regular education students who are on the floor to help the game flow and to set their teammates up for success.
 
The season is off to a great start! In their first competition at Mead High School, the Blackhawk squad dropped their first game to Lakeside 27-36 but bounced back to win the second game against Ridgeline 33-16. 
 
The season continues with a home game on Friday, January 20 at 4:00 PM. Other competitions include a game at Rogers HS on January 27, and the conclusion of the season on the road at Mead High School on Friday, Feb. 3. In addition, the team will hit the floor as a part of the “Railroad Rumble” Spirit Game against Rogers at the Spokane Arena on Monday, Jan. 30 at 4:00 PM 
 
Unified Basketball is one of the best games in town, full of cheering, fun and friendship. Come on out to a game and join in the fun!
