• 3 of CMS FBLA Place For Nationals  

    The Middle Level FBLA Clubs (Future Business Leaders of America) from Cheney Middle School and Westwood Middle School represented the Cheney School District amazingly at the Washington State Business Leadership Conference this past weekend in Spokane.

    This was the third year members from the Cheney Middle School chapter have competed and the second year members from the Westwood Middle School chapter have competed. In competition at the conference, 17 students represented the Cheney Middle School chapter and 2 students represented the Westwood Middle School Chapter.

    This was a very special year for the Cheney Middle School chapter; 3 students placed 3rd in their events, earning an automatic entry to the FBLA National Leadership Conference to be held June 29-July 2 in Chicago, IL. This is the first time Middle Level FBLA Students have placed for Nationals from the Cheney School District. Madison Conley and Abigael Dotson placed 3rd in eBusiness and Paige King placed 3rd in Help Desk. These students competed against hundreds of high school and middle school students in their events and were able to earn a spot for Nationals.

    The FBLA State Leadership Conference was held in Spokane on April 15-17 and was attended by 1,700 students.

  •   West Plains Teacher of the Year!

     On Friday, March 13, 2015 our very own 7th grade teacher Teresa Scrupps, was named West Plains Teacher of the Year! She was recognized during a special assembly for the students and staff at Cheney Middle School.  She will be formally recognized at Best of the West Awards Gala on March 20, at Northern Quest Resort and Casino. Thank you Teresa for "Going the Distance!"

    School Board Decides To
    Rerun CHS Construction Bond
    Read the letter from School Board President Henry C. Browne Jr. concerning the Board's action at their meeting yesterday, and the invitation to attend a community discussion on Tuesday evening, March 17. Also included in the letter is a link to the survey results from the on-line survey which 577 patrons completed. A link has been provided to the upcoming bond information as well.

  • School Closure Make-Up Day Set for June 12
    The make-up day for the district-wide school closure on December 5th, 2014, will be Friday, June 12. School will now be in session that day - so June 12 will be the last day of school.
