Immunizations

Adequate immunization is a requirement for school attendance in all public schools in the State of Washington. Medically verified proof of immunization is required at the time of registration for school attendance. The district nurse and school health aides make sure all students' immunization information is correct and entered in the school health file.

Children who do not meet state vaccination requirements (including exemptions) may not attend school or childcare. Schools and children MUST exclude children who do not provide paperwork showing their child has met the vaccination requirement.

Tdap
This vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. This is not the same vaccine that your child received before starting school. The Tdap vaccine is required for all students age 11 and older. As of the 2020-21 school year, students will need to show proof of receiving this shot before the first day of 7th grade.
Exemptions
Washington state law requires students who have an exemption to any of the vaccines must have on file a Washington State Certificate of Exemption (COE) form that is signed by a physician or other healthcare provider in the community and the parent. In July 2019, the Washington State Legislature passed a bill that removed the personal/philosophical option to exempt children from the Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine. Students must receive the MMR vaccine, show immunity to the disease, or get a different exemption for it.
