A note from the Superintendent:

2015 Bond Fact:
Students eat in the hallway due
to the undersized cateteria.
2015 Levy Fact:
On February 10, Cheney Public Schools voters will be asked to renew the Maintenance and Operations Levy which expires in 2015. Approximately 21% of the total School District budget is funded by our local community. If the levy does not pass, the District will not qualify for approximately $1 million in State Local Effort Assistance (LEA). Thus, it would impact 23% of the budget and educational programs throughout the District.

In the true spirit of "Going the Distance," Westwood Middle School band director Joshua Wiswell came to the aid of long-term substitute choir teacher Ester Kelly to help prepare for and run the Cheney Middle School choir concert, so that CMS choir students could still give the performance they had been preparing so hard for. Thanks, Josh and Ester, for making this performance a reality for CMS students!

  • RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE
The Anti-Bullying Club at Westwood Middle School has challenged all Wolverines to be their kindest all month long. The challenge aligns with the PACE Character Trait of the Month, which is "Caring."  Each day a different challenge is posted. On day four, the challenge was to say "hi" to someone new.  Caitlin Nearing was fully in the spirit with her t-shirt that read, "Hello there."

Students are enjoying the "Harvest of the Month" event in the district - and this month potatoes are the featured local item.  Did you know that the potato is America's number one vegetable crop?  And did you know that a whole potato has more potassium than a banana and provides 50% of your daily Vitamin C needs?
