Enrollment has steadily grown
in the district over the past five
years. Over the next six years it is
projected that enrollment will increase
by another 600 students. 150 of these
students are anticipated to enroll at CHS.
Levy = learning and programs. Levy funds provide teachers and support staff (counselors, nurses, specialists) beyond those provided by state ratios. These funds also provide additional time for teachers beyond the number of days paid by the state. The time is used for professional development, curriculum improvement, preparation, extended responsibilities for staff, and time for teachers beyond actual school instructional days.

During this visit students will have the opportunity to meet their counselor and grade level administrator. We will be go over registration information and paperwork. There will also be a student panel to answer questions and share information. High school students will also meet with small groups of 8th graders to answer individual questions students may have about high school.
March 4th - Freshman Parent Night at CHS, 6:00-7:30pm
During this event students and parents will meet their counselor, grade level administrator, and teaching staff. They will also receive information on the registration process, learn about how high school is different from middle school, and learn how to get involved at CHS.
March 26th - 8th graders visit CHS
During this visit, students will register for their classes online, tour the high school, and participate in other transition activities to help reduce anxiety and help them get excited about the transition to high school.
U.S. News has ranked Cheney High School as one of the best High Schools in Washington State for 2014. They reviewed 31,242 U.S. public high schools; 133 Washington schools made the rankings
Using state test scores, AP test scores, and enrollment data along with a comprehensive methodology, CHS was given College Readiness Index score, with the top-scoring 4,707 schools receiving a gold, silver or bronze medal and - in the case of gold and silver schools - a numerical ranking.
The Best High Schools rankings, which are available online only, are produced in conjunction with the American Institutes for Research, one of the largest behavioral and social science research organizations in the world. With today's launch, U.S. News has published detailed information on more than 19,400 public high schools, including school-specific data on enrollment, ethnicity, location, school type and results of state assessment proficiency tests and Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests.
