  •  Spring State Assessments

This spring, all third through eighth grade students in Washington State will take an assessment called the Measurements of Student Progress (MSP). The MSP measures a student's progress toward mastering basic skills in mathematics (grades 3-8 online), reading (grades 3-8 online), writing (grades 4 and 7 paper and pencil), and science (grades 5 and 8 online). The MSP is important because teachers and administrators can gain information about student progress toward meeting grade level expectations and can better plan curriculum, instruction and student placement. In addition, students become familiar with the test and have several chances to get feedback on their performance before taking the HSPE/EOC as a graduation requirement. Look for an announcement of testing days for your school, and make sure your child attends school on these days. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before testing, and that he or she eats a nutritious breakfast on testing days. http://www.cheneysd.org//Domain/37
